How to determine if a manufactured welded wire mesh is qualified?

Many manufacturers produce welded wire mesh, but some produce qualified products while others fail. Galvanized welded wire mesh that cannot provide a certificate of conformity still finds its way into the market. So, how can we determine whether welded wire mesh is qualified when purchasing it?


Galvanized welded wire mesh is made of high-quality low-carbon iron wire. It is formed by spot welding using automated, precise machinery, and then undergoes a zinc-immersion surface treatment. Produced according to standard British standards, the mesh surface is smooth and neat, the structure is sturdy and uniform, and the overall performance is excellent. Double wires are not allowed on the surface of galvanized welded wire mesh; broken sections can be repaired by overlapping welding, and the repaired areas are painted with silver powder. The following specifications apply to galvanized welded wire mesh: No more than two broken wires or detached welds; the arc height of the weld should not exceed 200mm; the tensile strength of the welded wire should be 0.5mm x 20N for wires with a diameter of 2.5mm x 500N for wires with a diameter of 2.5mm x 500N; the galvanized layer should have a g/m² g/m²; the warp and weft of the welded wire should be perpendicular, with a weft skew of no more than 3300mm.


1. The wire diameter error of the welded wire mesh should be controlled within 0.02mm. For example, if we purchase welded wire mesh with a wire diameter of 89 mils, measuring the diameter with a micrometer shows an allowable range of 87-91 mils. Mesh within this range is considered合格 (qualified/acceptable). While precision is important, it's impossible to control it perfectly during production. Welded wire mesh can be accurate to 0.01mm, so a slight error is acceptable.


2. The tensile strength of welded wire mesh must reach 120N; otherwise, it is considered substandard. There is no simple method to test the tensile strength of welded wire mesh; it requires specialized tools and expert testing, which we will not elaborate on here.


3. The exposed ends of welded wire mesh on both sides should not exceed 2mm to be considered qualified. The intersections of the warp and weft wires must be securely welded. However, for a secure weld at the edges, the weft wires must protrude slightly, but not excessively; generally, an extension of no more than 2mm is considered qualified.


4. Other surface characteristics include: the mesh openings must be uniform, and the hot-dip galvanized layer of the galvanized welded wire mesh must be uniform to ensure effective corrosion protection.
