What is the appropriate spacing for installing barbed wire?

Apr. 14, 2026

Razor wire is made of perforated blades and steel wire (stainless steel wire), offering both aesthetic appeal and protection. It can be categorized into spiral blade barbed wire, straight blade barbed wire, and flat blade barbed wire. Spiral blade barbed wire can be further divided into single spiral and double spiral. So, what is the appropriate installation spacing for razor wire?

The installation spacing of razor wire is crucial. The distance between two rolls of barbed wire is the first thing to consider during installation, as it affects both the product's appearance and its protective performance.

When installing razor wire on a fence without strict requirements, the first consideration is to divide the purchased razor wire evenly according to the actual length of the site. This determines how many meters of razor wire each roll actually occupies on the site, allowing for even distribution of the razor wire over a long fence.

For example, if the fence is 500 meters long and 51 rolls of razor wire are purchased, then 500 ÷ 51 = 9.8 meters. Each roll of razor wire should be installed at 9.8 meters intervals. This method results in an aesthetically pleasing installation with no excess wire, achieving the necessary protective performance.

YHY Metal Wire Mesh states that if the site conditions are strict, the barbed wire spacing must be determined according to the specified spacing, that is, the number of meters each roll should occupy must be determined in the same way, in order to install a very aesthetically pleasing barbed wire.
