Common questions and answers about fiberglass mesh

Apr. 17, 2026

1. What are the sizes of the mesh fabric?

Common mesh sizes are 5mm×5mm, 4mm×4mm, and 3mm×3mm. Weight per square meter is 80-160 grams. Roll lengths are 50m, 100m, or 200m, and roll widths are 1m-2m. Custom sizes are also available upon request.

2. What colors are available for the mesh fabric?

The standard color is white, but blue, green, and other colors are also available.

3. How is the mesh fabric installed?

At the ground floor, door and window openings, decorative joints, and corners, an additional layer of alkali-resistant mesh fabric should be laid, followed by a layer of crack-resistant mortar. The overlap length of ordinary alkali-resistant mesh fabric should not be less than 100mm. Alkali-resistant mesh fabric should only be butted together, not overlapped. At corners, the width of the alkali-resistant mesh fabric on each side should not be less than 20mm. The alkali-resistant mesh fabric around door and window openings should extend 100mm beyond the wall surface, and an additional 400mm x 30mm layer of alkali-resistant mesh fabric should be laid at each of the four corners at a 45° angle.

4. What is the service life of the mesh fabric? Under normal circumstances, high-quality mesh fabric has a long service life, but the specific lifespan will be affected by factors such as the usage environment and construction quality.

5. How much tensile force can the mesh fabric withstand? Different specifications of mesh fabric have different tensile strengths. Generally speaking, it has high warp and weft tensile strength and can effectively disperse stress.

6. Can mesh fabric be used for old wall renovation? Yes, it can effectively prevent the overall surface tension shrinkage of the old wall plaster layer and cracking caused by external forces, and is commonly used for wall renovation.

7. What is the difference between mesh fabric and ordinary gauze? Mesh fabric is made of fiberglass and undergoes special treatment, possessing properties such as alkali resistance, crack resistance, and high strength, while ordinary gauze does not have these functions.

8. What precautions should be taken when transporting mesh fabric? 9. How to judge the quality of the mesh fabric? You can judge by the material, wire thickness, mesh size, tensile strength, etc., or by checking the product's test report.

10. Can the mesh fabric be reused? Generally, it is not recommended to reuse it, as used mesh fabric may be damaged and its performance will decrease.

11. Is the mesh fabric harmful to the human body? Under normal use, it will not cause harm to the human body. However, during construction, pay attention to protection to avoid fiberglass fibers entering the eyes or respiratory tract.
